The expedition charter yacht M/V Alaska Adventurer was our home for the week.  It was an extremely stable vessel and has plenty of amenities.  The cabins are quite compact with two bunks and a sink but the suitcases are stashed below so what we needed fit into the closets and drawers in the cabin.  There's a special system installed so that you can get hot water at the touch of a button instead of having to run it until it's hot.  There are electric outlets everywhere so that you can charge your equipment at any time.  The generator is off at night so that you can hear the sounds of the Alaskan night!

Nikki was our chef and what meals she served us - this is an example of a lunch spread!  Everything is tasty and fresh and there is never a lack of food.  We caught what we ate much of the time - halibut and Dungeness crab and shrimp that were huge and succulent.  We also had grilled salmon, chowders, chili, and an assortment of fabulous salads.  There is wine at every meal and mid morning and mid afternoon snacks to keep us fueled up for our next adventure.

Breakfast was all kinds of good things including fresh muffins, fresh fruit, oatmeal, and quiche

Nikkie passed all kinds of wonderful goodies through the kitchen "window"!

Ben was our wonderful first mate and he worked tirelessly (as did Nikki) to make sure we had whatever we needed.  He performed the thankless task of keeping the huge windows in the salon sparkling so we could enjoy the views as we gathered there.  He also gave shrimp-beheading lessons, launched boats, help us on and off skiffs, cleaned fish, baited hooks, and a million other non-stop tasks to keep us safe and content.

Dennis is a great captain and it seemed as though he never slept.  He knows these waters so well that he was always surprising us with amazing views and spotting whales, animals, and birds in plenty of time for us to grab cameras and pile onto the flying bridge or the wheelhouse for great pictures.  He provided us with fabulous charts so that we were able to keep track of the places we had visited each day.  The good spots for crab and shrimp will forever remain our little secret.  He also acted as the taxi driver when we went ashore at the lighthouse.
